Naylor's Theatre
Situated in historic Deseronto on the picturesque Bay of Quinte, Naylor's Theatre was established in 1899. Owned, operated and built by Thomas Naylor, the theatre was the scene of many Vaudeville shows, plays, concerts and other events. In 1947 the theatre was converted to a movie house and was used in this manner until 1961. Naylor's Theatre has been dormant ever since.
Originally Naylor's Theatre could seat 400 on the main floor, another 150 in the balcony and even boasted two theatre boxes. The building also has some interesting exterior architectural features including decorative terra cotta and painted murals/graphics from the period. The building shape itself is a parallelogram, which is very unusual for a theatre.
